Do I Have Low Thyroid Symptoms?
Low thyroid symptoms are numerous. Persons with low thyroid, known as hypothyroidism, can suffer many symptoms, that by themselves, may not catch your attention. If several of these symptoms hit you though, you should realize that you could be suffering from low thyroid. If left untreated, hypothyroidism can become very dangerous to your health.
Having a low thyroid problem means that you have an imbalance in your hormone levels. It will get worse if left untreated. Hypothyroidism can happen when your thyroid malfunctions or quits working properly. Then you will not produce adequate amounts of thyroid hormone and certain bodily functions will start to suffer.
One of the low thyroid symptoms you will notice is unexplained weight gain due to the effect on your metabolism. To make matters worse, you may also notice an inability to lose weight. This means, of course, that the unexplained weight you have put on will stay with you until you treat the root of the problem.
There are millions of people in the United States alone who suffer from hypothyroidism. It is more common in women who are fifty years or older. Low thyroid is very dangerous for a pregnant woman. Growing another body inside of you while your own is out of balance is not a good thing.
Sometimes the symptoms of low thyroid are very subtle and can go undetected for a long time. Other symptoms are depression, anxiety, hair loss, susceptibility to cold, numbness in the hands and feet and a general feeling of being run down. There are more symptoms and a good book of reference is Breakthrough: Eight Steps to Wellness by Suzanne Somers. It covers the symptoms of low thyroid in great detail.
If you suffer from low thyroid symptoms, you should see your doctor. He can order a simple blood test that will determine if you have hypothyroidism. If so, it is important that you begin supplemention right away. Low thyroid can be treated with Thyromine.
