Male Menopause Is Real

You may have a man in your life that has been acting a little strange as of late. It could be a phase he is going through called andropause. This is male menopause. Yes, men suffer from menopause just like women do.
Male menopause happens when the levels of testosterone in the body begin to drop. Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone, just like estrogen and progesterone are the primary female sex hormones.
The hormones in a man usually peak when they are between the age of fifteen and eighteen. These hormones will begin to drop when a man is in his twenties. It is usually a gradual decline, and may not have an affect on a man until he is in his forties or fifties.

* Insomnia: Another common symptom is the inability to fall asleep and stay asleep.
* Osteoporosis: Bone loss occus which results in osteoporosis.
* Low self esteem: Male menopause will often cause a man to lose their self confidence and ability to make decisions.
Some other symptoms of male menopause are mood swings, night sweats, joint and muscle pain and hot flashes.
Having a decline in testosterone can increase your risk of developing heart disease and erectile dysfuncion.
Testosterone replacement therapy is available in the form of pills or injections. There are also doctors available who specialize in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy who use hormone pellets for testosterone therapy in male menopause. These pellets are inserted under the skin and generally only have to be replaced every four to six months.
