Early Menopause Symptoms

Women today are going through menopause at a younger age than ever before. But women who experience the symptoms of early menopause are still not being diagnosed correctly. Menopause is considered early if a woman enters it before the age of forty.
Early menopause symptoms are the same as the symptoms of menopause in a woman of what is considered a “normal age” for this passage of life. The only difference is the age at which it occurs. Early menopause symptoms consist of hot flashes, mood swings, irregular periods, fatigue and insomnia to name a few.
Any woman who suspects that she is experiencing early menopause symptoms should see her physician. Blood tests can easily determine if it is indeed the first stage of menopause.
Sometimes early menopause is brought on by other causes such as having the ovaries surgically removed for medical reasons, hormonal failure or because of a side effect of a strong medication. Most often early menopause is unexplained, but may have been seen in other family members.
Emotionally, having early menopause may have a strong effect on a woman. She may not be prepared to see the end of her reproductive life. These women should seek help. It can be devastating if you have waited to age thirty-five to start a family, only to find out that you are unable to become pregnant due to an early menopause.
The onset of menopause at any age will cause less production of the female hormones. This will affect the protective characteristics that these hormones have on the heart and vessels. A woman in early menopause should see a physician who specializes in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy to supplement these hormonal losses since her heart, lungs and bones will experience this vulnerable state for a longer period of time.
Women in early menopause should follow the same healthy living advice that is given to all women in menopause. Eat a diet rich in calcium and low in fat and processed foods.
Exercising on a regular basis is also important for a woman in menopause. Even a thirty minute walk several times a week will give many health benefits and help lessen the symptoms of menopause.
A woman who goes through early menopause can feel isolated and her spouse or family may not be able to provide the support she needs. Joining a support group for women living with menopause so she can have someone to talk with about her symptoms and what she is feeling emotionally will help to comfort her and get her sense of self back again.
