DHEA Levels and Menopause

You have probably heard DHEA referenced alot in the news these days.  It is being touted as a solution for hot flashes and menopause, among other things.  DHEA can certainly help with the symptoms of menopause when in balance with the rest of the hormones in your body.

Hypothyroidism: It Can Make You Sick!

The symptoms of hormone imbalance are not just due to our female hormones like progesterone and estrogen. Hormone imbalance usually includes many hormones, none more important than the thyroid.  The thyroid is a major hormone.   If it does not function properly for an extended period of time….you can die.

Night Sweats: What Causes Them?

The most common causes of insomnia and night sweats are hormonal changes related to menopause.  As estrogen declines, the hypothalmus, which regulates body heat, begins to fail.  These were my first signs of perimenopause.

Male Menopause is Called Andropause

Women don’t corner the market on hormonal decline.  Men have a drop off in their hormone levels as well.  It may not be as “in your face” as our lovely menopause, but it is just as important to take it seriously!

When I had the last of my four children I was nearly 34 years old.  I expected to have many years to get my body back in shape and enjoy life before any signs of menopause came along.  But only a few years later, the first signs of perimenopause began.
